South Carolina Porch

Please describe and tell us about your front porch decorating. I live in South Carolina and we spend a lot of time on our front porch now that my husband and I are both retired. We enjoy it often, even having our morning coffee out here with the paper. Once we retired last year I had time to spend making our porch nice and we purchased the wicker patio set and the rugs.
Did you make anything or is it all purchased? I didn't make anything although hanging the flower hat was my idea, to use it like one might use a wreath for decor. As you can see our front door is glass so nothing can be hung on it so the hat wreath is affixed to the wood panel between the front windows. We mounted the fake ivy border above the door which I absolutely love the look of. I had seen something similar in a magazine.
Tell us more about your process! How did you plan it and do everything? We did it all slowly last summer mostly. We had a couple chairs out there and that was about all when we started. The plants except for the ivy above the door are all real and do real well here.
Did you run into any problems? How long did it take you? Are you done with your porch? No problems, except for my husband swearing when we hung up that ivy. It was hard to get it to hang just right and he was up on the ladder and I was down saying no, to the left or to the right and it drove him crazy. We are all done and enjoying the porch.
Does anything change with the seasons? Not really although I may hang some red ribbons on the ivy for Christmas and I might take down the hat or maybe I could change the flowers on it. I hadn't really thought about the holidays yet, this is the first year that we've really spent any time on our porch.
