Mexican Dining Room Decor Inspired by Travels
by Irene Phillips
My Mexico Travels Inspired Dining Room
I wanted a Mexican dining room after spending a summer vacation there. I wanted it vibrant, to match the art that I purchased while traveling. This dining room makes me happy now whenever I'm in it but it is still a work in progress. The green buffet and mounted cabinets were something I faux distressed years ago and I'm not going to touch those. The chair pads were ones I had on outdoor chairs and I'd like to replace them. I'd also like to replace the tablecloth with something embroidered from Mexico but haven't found the perfect one yet. Hopefully I'll find something that ties the room together and I'd like it to have birds on it. It felt crazy painting that blue, I've never decorated with anything so vibrant before. I'm in my 60s and just finally cutting loose I guess. After years of playing it safe I'm having fun experimenting and allowing my travels to inspire me. I really think my Mexican dining room suits my home well, as it is a Spanish style stucco built in the 1930s. I'm looking forward to traveling to Mexico again next year to find more treasures.
