Accent Chair

Please describe and tell us about your painted furniture project.

I found this cute little lone chair at a garage sale one afternoon for $4. It was plain dark cherry wood and had a stained floral print for the seat. I knew I could paint it and change the seat cover and it would be perfect for my entryway.

What paint and primer did you use?

I used Zinsser primer like you suggested and I spray painted it with a mustardy yellow tone that I found at Home Depot. I'm pretty sure it was by Rustoleum.

Tell us more about your process! How did you do it?

Since it was only one chair I hand sanded it before I primed it. Then I painted on the primer and let it dry overnight. Then I spray painted it and let dry for another day. Meanwhile I spray painted a little piece of wood to take with me to the fabric store to find a suitable chair cover to recover the seat. I used a staple gun and followed the instructions I found on this website.

Did you run into any problems with this project? How long did it take you?
No problems other than picking the right fabric, that was the hardest part.

Anything else you'd like to share about your painted furniture project?
I love the way my little chair turned out and it is perfect in my entryway.
